I have to say, it is pretty weird and even nostalgic to see Tom Glavine back in a Braves uniform. The game has just started and he gave up a walk to his first batter.
The Braves are really counting on Glavine for at least 15 wins. We’ll see, but it is very possible. Glavine had [...]

Here we go folks. In what has been a lackluster offensive showing from the Braves comes down to this inning. The Nats are holding onto a 2-1 slim lead.
The beef of the batting order is here, with Chipper, who has already homered, leading off.
In a surprising move, the Nats bring in Jon Rauch to close [...]

First Inning
Kelly Johnson hitting first is a bit odd in my opinion. I would think Yunel Escobar would have been a better lead-off hitter. Johnson is quickly in an 0-2 hole and the third pitch, a fastball from Odalis Perez, looked like a strike to me. A slider makes it 2-2. And on the [...]

President George W. Bush got some serious boos for the ceremonial first pitch. Well, I cannot say it wasn’t a deserved introduction. Once he realized that it is in fact true, no one likes him, I could tell he wanted to get rid of that ball as quick as he could. He threw that sucker [...]

OK, before we start, that had to be one of the worst voices I have ever had to endure for a Star Spangled Banner before a game since Rosanne Barr. My god what the hell was that?
Within 10 seconds of her voice my cats started screeching. I nearly vomited.
What do you all think of the [...]

Baseball guru Peter Gammons did something crazy today, folks. He predicted the Atlanta Braves will face the Cleveland Indians in the World Series, a rematch of the 1995 series that brought the Braves their only championship over their nearly decade-and-a-half of frustrating domination. You can read his article here.
I won’t argue that the Indians are [...]

There are a lot of pitchers out there who can claim the fame of dominating the Washington Nationals.
Tim Hudson is one of them.
Hudson gets his fifth opening day nod tomorrow against the Nats in their new shiny downtown park. Against the Nats, Hudson has been unstoppable. In eight starts, he’s gone 5-1 with a [...]

The Atlanta Braves claimed Ruben Gotay off claimers today. Gotay batted .295 for the New York Mets last year in 98 games. He had 4 homers and 24 RBIs. To make room for him on the roster, Scott Thorman was sent to AAA ball.
Gotay was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 31st [...]

There are so many question marks surrounding the Braves lineup this year they ought to make the Riddler the 2008 mascot. Just for kicks, let’s imagine the absolute worst case scenario, a perfect storm of Braves mishaps and casualties if you will, and then also try to find the silver lining to each dark cloud. [...]

The Atlanta Braves traded relief pitcher Tyler Yates to the Pittsburgh Pirates for largely unknown right-hander Todd Redmond.
First off, let me say that Yates wasn’t an ace for the Braves relief staff in 2007. He pitched 66 innings and nearly gave up a hit an inning and a walk every other inning. He had so-so [...]
