Atlanta Braves Swipe Away Pesky Webb

Brandon Webb has dominated the Atlanta Braves since his inception into the league. That is until today.

The Braves provided Webb with his second straight loss today with a 7-3 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks in Hotlanta. However, what really confused me was why Jair Jurjjens, the current rookie of the year for the National League, was taken out of the game before the fifth inning. I later found out Jurrjens had two blisters on the inside of his right thumb, which if it was mentioned during the broadcast, I completely missed it.

Jurrjens leads all rookies in wins (5) and his ERA is the lowest at 2.64 (now it’s higher because some genius decided to pull him out of the game after 4.2 innings). Still, his ERA is better than Webb’s.

After going 0-12 in the series, Mark Teixeira finally learned how to use his bat. He drove in four runs.

Kelly Johnson and Brian McCann also extended their hitting streaks.

The Braves head to Milwaukee after a 2-2 series tie with the league-best Diamondbacks. The Braves went 8-3 in their longest homestand for the season. The Braves are an amazing 22-7 at home.

What’s left on the Braves plate is showing they can win on the road. Those wins have eluded the Braves all year, with a 6-16 record outside of Hotlanta.
